Latto said she has done guest verses for free when she likes the song and artist, but motherhood has her thinking about a fee.
During her October 29 appearance on “Hot Ones,” she told Sean Evans that other artists charge her.
“But I’ve been thinking about that now that I got a baby to feed,” she said.
She described those collaborations as favors, with the music coming first. She raised the question of charging without naming a price.
The interview also covered her critics. Latto said negative comments push her to prove people wrong. That included defending the food she shares through her “Soul Food Sunday” posts after people criticized her gumbo.
Her own recent records show how much of her work involves other artists. Big Mama, her fourth studio album, arrived on May 29 with 18 tracks. GloRilla joined her on “GOMF,” while Doja Cat appeared on “Okayyy” and 21 Savage on “Hostage.” The album also paired her with Sexyy Red for “Need Luv 2” and Mariah the Scientist for “Make Me.”
That guest list reached beyond rap. Odeal and Wizkid appeared together on “Anxious,” Teyana Taylor joined “4L” and Jelly Roll featured on “Mama.” According to Sony Music’s album announcement, Latto learned she was pregnant while making the project, bringing that change in her life into the recording process.
The release followed Sugar Honey Iced Tea in 2024. That album reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart, making her the first solo female rapper from Atlanta to lead it. Her 2022 album 777 had reached No. 6 on that chart.
The pushback over her cooking also fits a longer history of answering personal criticism in public. In May 2024, she responded to body-shaming after clips from her TwoGether Land Festival set in Dallas drew comments about her BBL. She followed with photos on Instagram and a message on X saying her partner was happy with her looks. The criticism followed her performance of “Sunday Service.”
Her work with Doja Cat also extends to the stage. T-Mobile Arena lists Latto on Doja Cat’s “Tour Ma Vie World Tour” stop in Las Vegas on October 31, with the show set for 7:30 P.M.
