Lil Durk Apple Watch Rumor Leads Fans To “Body Cavity” Search

Lil Durk probably wishes these Apple Watch allegations were not in cyberspace. People are asking some extremely personal questions. And rightfully so.

“Body cavity.”

Yes, those two words have the streets talking about the jailed Chicago rapper as he awaits his next trial.

According to Los Angeles Magazine reporter Taylor Parise’s coverage of the November 4 hearing, prosecutors alleged that authorities confiscated an Apple Watch from Durk. They maintain he smuggled it into the detention facility through a “body cavity.”

The government also alleged that he attempted to destroy the device. These remain allegations. Now, we are going to take a step or two back.

Social media went in immediately. I took a day to gather myself before writing this. The ‘Net has supplied its own interpretation of the hiding place. Some folks read two words and immediately said “rectal examine.”

Nothing specifies an anatomical location. Apple Watches do have GPS, but I digress. The claim that Durk concealed the watch in his rectum is speculation. It may be in his mouth. None of the existing reporting establishes precisely where the device was allegedly hidden. And yet…

I have questions, too. Plenty of them.

There is another detail worth keeping straight. Reporter Parise reported allegations of hundreds of unauthorized calls separately from the watch accusation. So, that is only one thing we are fixated on. Her account does not establish that every alleged call came from that particular device. Combining everything into one spectacular sentence might make a louder post, but it leaves readers with more certainty than the reporting supports.

Durk is under investigation over alleged contraband at the Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center. His attorneys offered substantial assets as part of their effort to secure his release. 

That is a serious dispute with consequences beyond a few embarrassing headlines.
