Lil Durk’s Father Dante Banks Demands Justice As Trial Continues With Bombshell Testimony

Day nine of the trial brought dramatic moments in downtown Los Angeles. Dante Banks, Lil Durk’s father, spoke outside the federal courthouse about the case against his son.

The Grammy-winning rapper is accused of orchestrating the attempted murder of fellow rapper Quando Rondo. A 2022 shooting at a gas station in Beverly Hills killed Rondo’s young cousin Lul Pab instead.

One of the admitted gunmen testified yesterday that Lil Durk set the whole thing up. The defense team tried to introduce video evidence of the rapper in a podcast interview with DJ Akademiks.

The judge denied the request, even though prosecutors used clips from the same interview to build their case. Dante Banks expressed frustration with how the trial is being handled.

“You supposed to be a system that’s looking for the truth. You supposed to be a system that’s representing the United States of America. Bring the truth out, you know,” he said outside court. “Cherry picking this from this and this. Bring the whole truth out.”

The emotional toll on the family is clear. Dante Banks spent 26 years in prison on drug charges and knows firsthand what his son faces.

“It has been really tough on the family, you know. To see our son going through this is really hard, you know. We lost one of them to gun violence. What I went through for the last 26 years, I don’t wish that on my worst enemy, definitely not my son,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Dante Banks remains hopeful. “Every time I look at him in court, I see that day. That day is coming,” he said, envisioning walking out of court with his son as a free man.

The trial took a significant turn this afternoon when Lil Durk’s former assistant, known as OTF Vonnie, took the stand.

He testified that he was never paid in connection with the 2022 killing in Beverly Hills.

A jailhouse phone call was then played for the court, in which Vonnie said he was simply going to get on the stand and perform for the judge.

This testimony could be crucial as the jury considers the evidence.

Outside the courthouse, the defense team was mobbed by fans and streamers like N3on, who turned the day into a circus, wearing “Free Durk” t-shirts and gyrating and dancing for the crowd.
