Lil Durk Trial: OTF Vonni Details Two Quando Rondo Attempts

Lil Durk watched Day 9 turn into a credibility fight as his lawyers confronted OTF Vonni with jail calls about rehearsing testimony and seeking freedom.

Drew Findling cross-examined Kavon “OTF Vonni” Grant Tuesday about recorded conversations from December 7, 2024, three days before his cooperation agreement.

“I’m going for a job interview,” OTF Vonni said during one call. “I’m dressing to impress. I’m speaking to impress, well rested, well fed, have my lunch box.”

He could be heard laughing before explaining the choice driving his decision: “You wanna go home or you wanna get life? I wanna go home.”

“When I get out, Imma do 60 Minutes … because everybody’s gonna want to know,” he said. “We gonna post that [MFer] and let it do numbers.”

Findling used those statements to question whether OTF Vonni shaped his testimony for freedom, publicity and a possible media career. The exchanges grew tense when OTF Vonni repeatedly claimed he could not remember prior statements and demanded exact transcript locations from Findling.

When Findling questioned his repeated yawning, OTF Vonni said he awakened at 3:45 A.M. and lacked the lawyer’s option of returning to a hotel.

The combative cross followed OTF Vonni’s direct testimony connecting Durk to alleged attempts against Quando Rondo in Georgia and California.

OTF Vonni admitted arranging a May 2021 Georgia operation after someone announced Rondo’s presence during a party attended by Durk and about 30 others.

He claimed Durk instructed him to assemble the operation, which OTF Vonni understood as an order to locate and attack Rondo.

OTF Vonni said he obtained two stolen vehicles and firearms through steps he considered routine, although Rondo escaped that gas-station shooting unharmed.

Prosecutors then moved into the August 2022 Los Angeles operation that killed Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson instead of its alleged target, according to reporting from LA Mag.

OTF Vonni said Durk mentioned Rondo’s Los Angeles appearance during a private flight before travel arrangements brought OTF members through San Diego.

He described arranging flights, stolen cars and guns as familiar work, while claiming Durk chose San Diego to avoid police attention.

OTF Vonni said Deondre “DeDe” Wilson informed him that Durk wanted him involved, although OTF Vonni testified that the assignment made him uneasy.

OTF Vonni said Durk and others wanted the Infiniti destroyed, but he wiped it down and abandoned it where police would tow it. He testified that he falsely told Durk the vehicle had been burned before leaving Los Angeles and gradually separating himself from the rapper.

OTF Vonni also interpreted Durk’s messages and songs as indirect demands for revenge after King Von’s death.

“It took a toll. We lost somebody we really loved,” OTF Vonni testified. “It was clear to everyone. Myself as well.”

Durk has pleaded not guilty, while his attorneys maintain OTF Vonni organized the violence and now blames his former employer to reduce his punishment.

Findling’s cross-examination continued after Tuesday’s brief recess as the defense pressed OTF Vonni about his statements, motives and the benefits of cooperation.
