Lockdown delivers again as Ryan Darby colt powers home for second win of the season

CONSISTENCY continues to pay off for the connections of Lockdown as the four-year-old chestnut colt picked up his second win of the season at Caymanas Park on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The Ryan Darby-trained colt came from well off the pace to win the Restricted Allowance III contest for native-bred four-year-olds and upward (non-winners of four) and imported four-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) over one mile (1,600m) easily by two lengths. Ridden by Demar Williams, Lockdown settled off the pace at the start of the race as Confidence Is High (Reyan Lewis) and Good Conscience (Omar Walker) battled for the lead. Confidence Is High and Good Conscience continued to battle for supremacy down the backstretch, cutting each other up front while Lockdown remained well off the pace, biding his time and waiting for his moment to strike. Lockdown made little progress going into the half mile (800m) as the two leaders continued to draw away from the field, with Slam Sharp (Bebeto Harvey) and He’s Sensational (Dane Dawkins) chasing. But, as is often the case when they go too hard too early, the leaders failed to carry on in deep stretch. Once Williams asked him to go, Lockdown changed through gears on the outside of runners and powered home to win easily. Good Conscience held on for second place, with Slam Sharp (Bebeto Harvey) finishing third and He’s Sensational ending fourth. The winning time was 1:43.2 (23.2 x 46.0 x 1:13.1 x 1:28.1). Lockdown is bred by Strikewhileitshot out of the Liquidity mare Aria. He was winning for the fourth time from 27 career starts and has earned over $3.7 million in Stakes.
