LoWick Killed At 22 In FBI Shooting

LoWick died at 22 after an FBI agent shot him in Dixmoor, Illinois, on October 28. The rapper’s real name was Chadwick Clark. His sister, Nia Cole, told the Chicago Sun-Times he had a 2-year-old daughter.

The shooting took place around 7 a.m. near 145th Street and Cooper Avenue. Village officials told WGN-TV that federal agents had come to serve a search warrant. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said a 22-year-old man died about an hour after the shooting, Patch reported. The office placed the incident in the 14500 block of South Cooper Avenue.

Cole told ABC7 Chicago her brother was inside the home and had no weapon. She also said, “The warrant was for his arrest, not for the house.”

The FBI had not explained what led agents to open fire or disclosed the details of the warrant.

In her Sun-Times interview, Cole said her brother was trying to move past his troubles. He was the youngest of nine children and was due to start a job at Amazon. She said his rap lyrics did not reflect his life and the guns in his videos were props.

According to FOX 32 Chicago, LoWick had made songs and appeared in videos with Bloodhound Q50.

Bloodhound Q50 was buried in September, after he was killed at a gas station in Chicago’s Fuller Park neighborhood. Police from several Northwest Indiana agencies helped secure his funeral procession through Merrillville.

Nearby residents also described the morning gunfire to ABC7. Ruth Perkins said she heard roughly six shots and then someone call for an ambulance. The station later saw agents carry large white boxes out of the house.

Cole told the Sun-Times she last spoke with LoWick the night before he died. The next morning, his girlfriend told her he was dead. Cole was at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at the time. “All he talked about was getting off parole and taking care of his daughter,” she said. She had lost another brother to a fatal stabbing in 2013.

The FBI said none of its staff were hurt. Its Inspection Division was reviewing the shooting.
