Man Arrested After Alleged Knife Threat At Michael B. Jordan’s “Miami Vice ’85” Set

Michael B. Jordan‘s “Miami Vice ’85” production was reportedly disrupted Friday night after a man allegedly threatened a crew member with a butcher knife in Brooklyn.

According to TMZ, which cited the NYPD, police arrested Alex Perez, 23, at 11:17 P.M. on October 23.

He was charged with second-degree menacing with a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The outlet reported that Perez ran across the set around 11 P.M. and that police were called after he allegedly displayed the knife and threatened a production staffer.

TMZ also published footage it said showed a staff member escorting Perez away before he reached into his sweatshirt pocket and pulled out the knife.

The report said Perez used a racial slur toward the worker while handcuffed.

It was unclear Jordan was present during the confrontation or identify him as the person threatened.

The arrest came as the new film’s New York shoot was drawing attention.

Earlier Friday, ABC7 reporter Phil Taitt published his account of spotting Jordan filming near City Hall, a separate New York location from the Brooklyn set named in the arrest report.

Jordan plays detective Ricardo Tubbs opposite Austin Butler’s Sonny Crockett. The pair take over roles made famous by Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson on the original television series, which ran from 1984 to 1989.

Joseph Kosinski, the director behind “Top Gun: Maverick” and “F1,” is making the new version for IMAX.

Rather than updating the detectives for the present day, this film takes them back to Miami in the mid-1980s. Its story draws on the show’s pilot and first season, according to “Good Morning America”.

Dan Gilroy wrote the script. His credits include “Nightcrawler,” “Kong: Skull Island” and episodes of the Star Wars series “Andor.”

This is the second big-screen version of the series.

Jamie Foxx played Tubbs alongside Colin Farrell’s Crockett in Michael Mann’s 2006 “Miami Vice.”

Universal has released the first photos of Jordan and Butler in character.

“Miami Vice ’85” is scheduled to reach theaters on May 19, 2028.
