Man Arrested For Felony Stalking At LeBron James’ Los Angeles Home

LeBron James‘ Los Angeles home became the scene of a felony stalking arrest Friday night after police answered a call about a possible burglary at the basketball star’s property.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the arrest to KTLA.

Officers responded around 9:40 p.m. on November 6 and took a man into custody at the scene, according to the department’s Media Relations unit.

The station did not identify the suspect or establish whether he had approached James or the property before. LAPD did not provide further details about the circumstances of the arrest.

California’s stalking law covers repeated, malicious following or harassment coupled with a credible threat intended to make someone reasonably fear for their safety or that of an immediate family member.

A credible threat can involve words, electronic communications or a pattern of conduct. The law requires the apparent ability to carry out the threat, while prosecutors do not have to prove the person intended to act on it.

The limited police account did not spell out the conduct behind the stalking allegation or describe a threat.

James was in Cleveland with the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. His team faced the Cavaliers as part of the NBA Cup, months after he chose Philadelphia over a possible return to his former Cleveland franchise.

He left the Lakers after eight seasons that began in 2018 and included the 2020 NBA title. He chose the 76ers in July, joining Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey for his 24th NBA season. His agreement was for two years, with a player option for the second.

James previously dealt with a police investigation at a Los Angeles property in May 2017, when someone painted a racial slur on its front gate on the eve of the NBA Finals.

He was away for that incident too. Officers found that the slur had been covered before they arrived, and investigators sought nearby surveillance footage. That vandalism occurred years before his move to the Lakers.

James was preparing to face the Golden State Warriors with Cleveland when the 2017 vandalism was reported. The incident brought police to a home he had purchased in 2015, before Los Angeles became his NBA base.
