Megan Thee Stallion just revealed how emotionally drained she felt during her nine-month relationship with Klay Thompson, describing the experience as being “put through the washing machine and the dryer with tins, shovels, and a cactus.”
The rapper opened up in her September 2026 InStyle cover story about what led to their April breakup and the toll it took on her mental state.
The relationship ended publicly when Megan accused Thompson of cheating on social media, but in this new interview, she’s getting more specific about the emotional exhaustion that preceded the split.
She explained that constant discomfort and anxiety were red flags she couldn’t ignore.
“What’s meant for you is always going to work out,” she told the magazine. “And if something is constantly making you feel uncomfortable, just on edge all the time, you probably are not supposed to be there. God will always make you uncomfortable when something is not meant for you.”
Megan reflected on how she’d been trying to force compatibility where none existed, essentially sacrificing her own identity in the process.
“I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn’t belong, trying to fit myself into someone else’s life,” she said. “I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again.”
The rapper emphasized that she’s reclaiming her independence and won’t tolerate disrespect moving forward.
According to the InStyle interview, she’s made it clear that anyone who dates her needs to understand she’s her own person and her own boss.
This breakup appears to have been a turning point for the Grammy winner, who’s now focused on rebuilding her sense of self after months of feeling like she was constantly walking on eggshells.
