The Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) is advising the public that information currently circulating on social media, purporting to represent beneficiary records under the ministry’s ROOFS assistance programme, is false and misleading.
"The ministry wishes to clarify that the table being shared does not reflect accurate or official beneficiary records and should not be regarded as authentic information from the ministry," the ministry said in a statement Friday, adding that "The MLSS has taken steps to address the matter, including requesting the removal or correction of the misleading information to prevent its further circulation."
The ministry is also reminding members of the public of the importance of respecting data protection and privacy, particularly when sharing information that purports to contain individuals’ personal details.
"The circulation of inaccurate information can create unnecessary confusion and undermine public confidence in the delivery of assistance to affected households," the MLSS said. "The ministry remains committed to transparency, accountability and the protection of beneficiaries' information and encourages the public to verify all information relating to the ROOFS programme through its official communication channels."
