Mistah F.A.B. Gets E-40’s Name In WNBA Finals TV Mix-Up

Mistah F.A.B. had a front-row seat at the WNBA Finals next to Too $hort. The name on TV did not match his face.

A shot from Monday night’s Game 2 showed a graphic that called him E-40. The words “E-40” and “RAPPER” sat beside him on the USA Sports feed.

The two Bay Area stars were at Chase Center as the Golden State Valkyries faced the Atlanta Dream. In the shot, Too $hort wore a Valkyries jersey on the left. F.A.B. wore a hat and glasses on the right.

A viewer posted the shot on X late on Monday, October 19, and called out the wrong name. The image was a photograph of a television screen. SFGATE also named Mistah F.A.B. in its own courtside photo from the game.

The name on screen was not the only link to Bay Area rap that night. Too $hort had been booked to lead the pregame drum. LaRussell was set for halftime. AllHipHop had laid out those plans before the game.

The courtside seats also put two old friends side by side. F.A.B. had known $hort since he was a child.

In a 2022 AllHipHop interview, F.A.B. explained what Too $hort meant to him.

“Short took me to Atlanta a long time ago, showed me how to move around. I call Too Short pops. He’s a godfather-like figure in my life. I’ve been knowing him since a kid, personally knowing him since 9 or 10 years old.”

He said $hort was both an idol and a friend. He could go to him for help with his music and his life.

He also praised $hort as a Hip-Hop great.

“He’s so humble, but he’s a legend. That’s a legend.”

That bond also made it onto a Snoop Dogg song. F.A.B. and $hort joined him on “Life Of Da Party.” F.A.B. recalled how they ran into Snoop at a Hollywood building and went on to make the track.

On the court, Atlanta won 79-65 to tie the best-of-seven series at one game each. Angel Reese led the Dream with 30 points and 16 rebounds, while Rhyne Howard set a Finals record with six steals. Atlanta scored 24 points off Golden State’s 19 turnovers.

Game 3 is set for October 21 at 8 P.M. Eastern at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The split also ensured a return to Chase Center for Game 5 on October 26.
