N.O.R.E. Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Nas’ Baby Mother Carmen Bryan

N.O.R.E. has some big issues to deal with: he is facing a civil lawsuit that claims he sexually assaulted the mother of Nas’ child.

The lawsuit, filed by Carmen Bryan, centers on allegations of sexual assault dating back to May 1999, when the Queens rapper allegedly attacked her at a Manhattan nightclub during a promotional event.

Bryan, now an author and entrepreneur, filed the complaint in New York this week after remaining silent for more than two decades about the incident.

The legal action is serious for N.O.R.E., given his transformation into a media personality through his successful podcast venture “Drink Champs.”

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Bryan alleges that N.O.R.E., whose real name is Victor Santiago, was visibly intoxicated when he approached her in front of witnesses and committed nonconsensual digital penetration.

“In the thick of a crowded nightclub, with music pounding, bodies moving, and patrons close enough to see, Santiago forced himself onto Ms. Bryan. Santiago forcibly grabbed intimate areas of Ms. Bryan’s body in full public view. Using significant physical force, Santiago seized Ms. Bryan, bypassed her undergarments, and committed an act of non-consensual digital penetration,” Bryan’s lawyer Marjorie Mesidor said.

“He did so in the presence of Ms. Bryan’s friends and other nightclub patrons. Ms. Bryan objected. Ms. Bryan made clear verbal objections and repeatedly pleaded for Santiago to stop. Santiago ignored her objections and pleas. Santiago physically overpowered Ms. Bryan. Ms. Bryan attempted to stop the assault but was unable to do so through her own efforts. Santiago did not stop because he recognized her humanity, heard her objections, or honored her refusal. Santiago stopped only after third parties intervened,” Mesidor continued.

The lawsuit characterizes his conduct as assault, battery, and gender-motivated violence under New York law.

What makes this case particularly striking is what allegedly happened next.

Once Santiago recognized Bryan as Nas’ partner under the streetlights outside the club, he immediately apologized, saying, “Carm, I didn’t know it was you. You’re always doing something different with your hair.”

Weeks later, at a Father’s Day event, he approached her again to apologize, but Bryan’s attorney, Marjorie Mesidor, argues this doesn’t erase what occurred.

“No woman signs up to be assaulted,” Mesidor stated. “The assertion that an assault is excusable or simply did not happen because a perpetrator failed to recognize his victim strips women of their fundamental humanity. Ms. Bryan is coming forward not only to demand accountability for the lasting trauma and public humiliation inflicted upon her, but to challenge the culture of entitlement that treats women’s bodies as collateral damage.”

Bryan claimed she disclosed the assault to Jay-Z years ago, and he allegedly threatened to confront N.O.R.E. personally, but she asked him to stay out of it.

She remained publicly silent until reading about Cassie Ventura’s lawsuit against Sean Combs in November 2023, which triggered her own traumatic memories and led her to pursue legal action.

This incident may have been at the root of the longstanding beef between N.O.R.E. and Nas, which lasted for over a decade, before they squashed their differences in 2015.

Today, N.O.R.E. has reinvented himself with “Drink Champs,” and the show has given him a second act in the industry, but this lawsuit represents a reckoning with his past that he can’t simply talk his way through on air.

N.O.R.E.’s legal team did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the allegations.
