Nelly Recalls Taylor Swift’s $50,000 Favor

Nelly said Taylor Swift paid him $50,000 to perform “Hot In Herre” in Houston, and he asked for the cash in a McDonald’s bag.

In his “The Breakfast Club” appearance with Ashanti, as reported by EntertainmentNow, he recalled Swift calling after she and her friends made a dance to the song.

“Sent the G5, not 4, 5,” he told the show, per the outlet.

He said Swift sent a private jet for him and his kids and gave them a presidential suite. His account did not establish the year of the Houston appearance.

Their past shows together also reached beyond that Houston request. On September 29, 2015, Nelly joined Swift onstage in St. Louis during her “1989 World Tour.” They performed “The Fix” before Haim joined them for “Hot In Herre.”

The night marked Haim’s last show as an opening act on that tour. Swift and the sisters danced together during Nelly’s hit. Afterward, Swift shared clips of the routine on social media. Nelly posted footage too, and praised Swift and Haim as his background singers. Haim wore matching white outfits for the number and later compared their look to “Charlie’s Angels” in a social media post.

A different setting brought the two together in August 2016. Swift sang “Dilemma” with Nelly at model Karlie Kloss’ birthday party, as AllHipHop reported at the time. The party performance put Swift in the duet role Kelly Rowland held on the original recording.

Released in 2002, Nelly and Rowland’s “Dilemma” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also won the Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

Now Nelly and Ashanti are giving fans another look at how work fits into their home life. Their series, “Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together,” returns to Peacock on November 19.

The second season follows both artists’ careers as they raise their toddler son, Kareem, whom they call KK. Ashanti’s effort to own her master recordings through rerecording her music is part of the story. The couple also weighs whether to share their child on social media while juggling tours in different places.
