Nicki Minaj Offers Prayers For Nigerian Christians As Pastor Thanks Trump

Nicki Minaj offered a prayer after sharing a pastor’s report of funerals and fresh attacks in Nigeria’s Plateau State.

“Lord, if we hear from you, then we will know what to do,” she wrote above a report about the Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo.

The rapper did not name an attacker or propose a response, but the report she shared followed a deadly week south of Jos. Gunmen struck Gassa and nearby Chit on September 24, and local accounts say three members of Gassa’s community watch died.

Channels Television identified them as Ishaya Pam Dung, Barnabas Gyang Jack and Manasseh Luka Mushwer, citing the Berom Youth Moulders Association.

The group also reported four other deaths across nearby communities from September 23 to 24 and damage to more than 20 hectares of farmland. Security authorities had not independently confirmed those figures when Channels published them, leaving the wider death toll unsettled.

TruthNigeria’s report, which appeared in Minaj’s post, described the Gassa assault as the area’s fifth attack within a week. Its reporter saw Dachomo beside a grave for three victims on September 25 as more deaths were reported in neighboring villages.

Residents had also mourned a pastor and a church worker killed on September 20 while traveling to church.

Dachomo thanked President Donald Trump at the burial for addressing attacks on Christians in his United Nations speech. “Thank you for advocating for us at the United Nations Assembly. I watched your address to the end,” he said.

The killing continued September 26 at a mining site in Marit, where Premium Times reported five dead and two wounded, citing local sources.

TheCable reported six deaths, citing security sources; authorities had not issued a settled toll for that attack.

Plateau State imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu, yet the Gassa victims died after it took effect.

The state government condemned the killings and said security agencies would seek the gunmen, while grieving residents protested the response. Dachomo has described attacks on Christians as genocide, though violence in Plateau State has also killed Muslim herders.

Minaj took up the cause in November 2025 after Trump accused Nigeria of failing to protect Christians.

She thanked him for raising the issue, writing, “We live in a country where we can freely worship God.”

When U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz invited her to speak at a United Nations event, she promised that she and her audience would stand against injustice.

At the November gathering, Minaj thanked Trump again and urged action against extremism and attacks tied to religious belief. “In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed,” she told the U.S.-hosted panel.

She also said protecting Christians should unite people and spoke of respect when anyone’s church or mosque is destroyed.

Security forces have announced further patrols around Dorowa, Babuje, Marit and Lajam following Saturday’s mining-site attack.
