Nicki Minaj praised Donald Trump’s negotiating style and work habits during an Air Force One interview Sunday as she traveled with him to Michigan.
The rapper spoke with White House communications director Steven Cheung about the economy and the reasons she trusted Trump to handle the country’s finances. She pointed to Trump’s recovery from financial trouble in his own life, describing that experience as a reason for her confidence in his leadership.
“He’s tough internationally. He tells them what we need, not what they need.”
Cheung also asked about Trump’s work ethic, giving Minaj another opening to explain what she admired about the president.
“He outworks people who are half his age.”
Her comments aboard the presidential plane were reported in Reach’s account of the exchange, written by Jorge Solis and published on AOL.
Cheung posted the interview on X, sharing Minaj’s answers about the president’s record and the personal qualities she valued.
The Associated Press confirmed the Michigan flight, reporting that Minaj traveled aboard Air Force One with Trump on Sunday. The flight came as Republicans campaigned to keep control of Congress, with the November 3 election a little more than a week away.
The trip followed a September Fox News appearance in which Minaj made clear she had no interest in apologizing for her support.
In her interview with Laura Ingraham, she spoke about Trump in personal terms while appearing alongside Small Business Administration chief Kelly Loeffler.
“I just love him. I’m not going to ever make excuses for that because I don’t know why I should.”
That conversation centered on the Million Dollar Pitch Competition, a business contest that brought Minaj together with entrepreneurs Grant Cardone and Joe Gebbia. Minaj served as a judge alongside Cardone and Gebbia, extending her public work with the administration beyond her comments about the president.
In a September preview of Fox News’ My View with Lara Trump, Minaj also encouraged younger viewers to vote Republican in upcoming races. Her appeal included local races, putting an emphasis on offices that voters would choose closer to home as well.
The Million Dollar Pitch Competition offered a $1 million prize, with Minaj helping decide which business would receive the money.
