Nicki Minaj took the main stage at X Takeover 2026 in Austin, Texas, on October 10 and delivered a message blending faith, politics, and international activism into a powerful call to action.
The event, held at Tesla’s Giga Texas facility, brought together thousands of Tesla enthusiasts and tech community members for a two-day gathering organized by Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley.
Alongside keynote speakers like Maye Musk and Elon Musk, Nicki stepped up to discuss creativity, culture, technology, and personal brand building.
But her real focus was something far more urgent.
“I think Christians as a whole need to wake up and we need to wake up now,” she said during her appearance.
The rapper emphasized that religious communities can’t sit on the sidelines anymore, especially when elections shape policy and national direction.
“I think that the elections should be incorporated into what they’re preaching even at church during this time because these are such important elections,” the rapper said.
Nicki’s connection to Nigeria runs deep through her pastor, who hails from the West African nation. That relationship opened her eyes to something most mainstream media ignores completely.
“I have a lot of Nigerian barbs,” she explained. “What I started seeing was the brutality in which Christians are being treated there just for being Christian.”
She questioned why more people aren’t making noise about it.
“I thought why isn’t anyone making a big deal out of this, you know, and sometimes when things aren’t cool like to talk about, people just don’t talk about it,” Nicki Minaj said.
That’s where her activism intersects with her platform. She’s been working alongside the Trump administration on this issue, speaking at the United Nations about Christian persecution in Nigeria with Trump’s ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz.
Now she’s calling on her peers to join the conversation.
“I’m hoping that more celebrities or people in influencers I’m hoping that they come aboard the train to start speaking out about what’s happening to Christians in Nigeria,” Nicki said. “I look forward to doing more to help in that way in that cause.”
