Nicki Minaj Takes Her Trump Support To Michigan Campaign Trail

Nicki Minaj is taking her support for Donald Trump onto Michigan’s campaign trail with a reported rally appearance on Sunday.

The Washington Examiner reported that she will appear with the president in Port Huron to help Republicans seeking office. Former Rep. Mike Rogers is among those candidates as he seeks Michigan’s open Senate seat in the November 3 election.

Trump’s rally is scheduled at McMorran Place Arena, with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. Eastern, according to FOX 2 Detroit.

The visit comes nine days before Election Day and follows months of Minaj publicly defending her ties to the president.

At a January 28 event for Trump Accounts, Minaj defended her support for the president and addressed criticism of their alliance.

“And that’s not going to change. And the hate, or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all,” she said, according to TheWrap.

Her support continued during a September 18 appearance on The Ingraham Angle alongside Small Business Administration head Kelly Loeffler.

Asked about their connection during that interview, Minaj spoke about how she felt when she watched Trump interact with people.

“It’s easy to connect with him. It’s easy to feel like he heard you. He understands you. I just love him.”

Minaj also said she wanted her concerts to give people good memories and a chance to enjoy music without political lectures.

That September interview came as she took a judging role in the Million Dollar Pitch Competition for small business owners. She joined Grant Cardone and Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia on the panel for a competition offering a $1 million prize pool.

Sunday’s campaign stop puts her support behind a Republican Senate hopeful who faces Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in a closely watched race.

Reuters reported that the contest could help decide Senate control as Republicans defend their current majority of 53 seats to 47. Former President Barack Obama appeared in Detroit on Saturday to urge support for Democrats as both parties chased votes across Michigan.

Trump is scheduled to begin his remarks at 3 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, according to the local station’s rally information.
