Outkast teamed with Nike, Class Trip and the University of Georgia to create clothes inspired by the duo’s style, with a wider rollout that started on October 28.
Nike plans to bring the full Outkast U range to nike.com and select stores, following the October 27 launch through SNKRS, Class Trip and Atlanta retailers.
The clothes borrow from André 3000 and Big Boi’s wardrobes. Georgia’s G carries Outkast’s crown, while jerseys bear 96, a nod to the year ATLiens arrived. The duo’s “Roses” video also helped guide the look.
Class Trip founder Brian Francis said André’s recollections of visiting Athens came up over lunch, which gave the project its start.
A red varsity jacket pairs wool with black leather sleeves. It uses chenille patches and chain-stitch embroidery, with Georgia and Outkast lettering across the back. The range also includes rugby shirts, a satin bomber and tees.
“We wanted to create something as timeless as their music,” said Jon Tietz, Class Trip’s creative director.
Class Trip’s store listed the crown snapback at $50 and the “Ms. Jackson” T-shirt at $60. The cotton jersey was $145, and the hoodie was $180.
The partnership follows Outkast’s Waffle House collaboration, which launched through the group’s website on October 2.
That project took a line from Big Boi’s “So Fresh, So Clean” verse and turned it into a Waffle House marquee, connecting the duo’s catalog with another familiar piece of Southern life.
Hip-Hop historian NuFace discussed that earlier pairing in an interview with AllHipHop.
“OutKast has become part of the culture, the identity and the language of Atlanta,” he told AllHipHop about the Waffle House collaboration. No new OutKast music was announced with that partnership.
The connection has roots in the music: André and Big Boi released their debut, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, in 1994, then built on it with ATLiens, Aquemini and Stankonia.
Their reach also earned them a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2025 class, with Donald Glover serving as their inductor.
The Hall’s profile traces a sound that drew on funk and jazz as well as rap, part of the range behind that recognition. The Hall counts Outkast among the few Hip-Hop acts to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.
