The 54th running of the $2.5-million Philip Feanny Gold Cup takes centre stage at Caymanas Park tomorrow as a select field of five runners go to post in the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance feature.
Run over 7 furlongs (1,400m) for three-year-olds and upward, the Gold Cup is one of the prestigious “Win and You’re In” races that carries automatic entry into December’s ultra-rich Mouttet Mile.
The Supreme Racing Guide from the Jamaica Observer breaks down the chances of each runner:
1. PACK PLAYS (USA): (5 dk b/br h by Stay Thirty – Standard Deal) – Comes in off an easy win in the None Such Sprint over 6 furlongs (1,200m) in 1:10.3 on August 15. He steps up in distance here but that shouldn’t be a problem given his pedigree. Expect him to be competitive and finish in the top 3.

2. BOSS MAN: (4 b c by Bern Identity – Miss Boss Lady) – Must be commended for his rapid improvement to reach this level. However, this is a big jump in class and he looks up against it. No chance of winning this one. 3. RIDEALLDAY (USA): (4 gr/rn c by Vekoma – Song Of Hours) – The current Horse of the Year. He was a disappointing fifth in the Diamond Mile on July 25 after stumbling at the start and finishing 13 lengths behind Phenomenal Power. Prior to that he was flying, rattling off three straight wins including a track record in the Ian Levy Cup over 8½ furlongs on April 6. With that run behind him, Rideallday should be ready and is tipped to win here. 4. IS THAT A FACT (USA): (6 b h by Palace Malice – Valid Code) – Has done little to suggest he can be competitive at this level. Expected to be behind. 5. THE PRINCE’S SPUR (USA): (7 b g by Cairo Prince – Flying Spur) – The wildcard. This American import makes his highly anticipated Jamaican debut in the Gold Cup. He comes with a solid US record – 4 wins, 3 seconds, 4 thirds from 16 starts and earnings of nearly US$260,000. He last won on January 15, 2026 at Gulfstream Park, taking a mile claiming race by 5 lengths in 1:38.2. Reports are he has been working really well locally and looks the most likely to challenge Rideallday for top honours. May need the run, but don’t be surprised if he fires fresh.
