PlaqueBoyMax questioned Adin Ross’ respect for Black culture after Ross suggested a blackface livestream with Cheesur and Konvy.
Ross floated the idea on Kick while watching Max and his friends dressed as white men for Halloween. He asked, “we all do blackface, bro?” He also asked his chat whether the idea would bring him hate and argued that he was Jewish rather than white.
During his own November 1 stream, Max connected Ross’ success to the same culture he felt Ross was disrespecting.
“A lot of your success is rooted in Black culture,” he said, before asking, “why don’t you respect Black culture?”
Max also made clear that his criticism did not erase his admiration for Ross as a streamer. He still counted Ross among his streaming GOATs, keeping that praise separate from his objection to the blackface suggestion.
Max’s own work has moved between livestreams and music production. He received a Best Music Streamer nomination for the 2026 Streamer Awards alongside DDG, Bishu and AriAtHome.
The category recognized singing, playing instruments, DJing, producing and composing music. Voting closed on October 31 ahead of the ceremony planned for November 12.
As AllHipHop previously reported, his broadcasts let viewers watch new tracks take shape through the whole live recording process and help choose their names. His music credits also included “Victory Lap” with Fred again.. and Skepta, which earned a 2026 Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording. The Recording Academy listed Max as both an artist and producer on the track.
Ross had faced criticism for making race part of an on-camera cash offer before. In a video uploaded on February 16, 2023, he asked an Omegle stranger to act Black for $100. When the man refused, Ross doubled the proposed payment to $200.
“That’s racist, isn’t it?” the participant asked. Ross replied, “Just act Black for $200!”
After the man did an imitation, Ross accused him of being racist, then said he was joking. Some other callers ended their conversations rather than comply with the request. Viewers also objected to the clip arriving during Black History Month, according to Dexerto.
