Playboi Carti’s X Bio Raises Hack Questions After Meme Coin Rush

Playboi Carti‘s X bio sparked a meme coin rush on Sunday, October 25, as traders chased tokens with his name and later questioned who changed the account.
A Pump.fun reference appeared on his profile, which had about 3.6 million followers.
A CARTI token later sank, but no confirmed link between the rapper and the coin had been established, according to Bitcoin.com.
Crypto Gorilla, a crypto commentator who documented the change that evening, raised the hacking question from the start.
“PlayboiCarti added PF to his bio (hacked?)” the commentator wrote on X.
The same post said the account hadn’t shared a wallet or contract address identifying a specific token. It also noted that Carti’s last post was dated to early 2025. Several coins using CARTI were trading on the attention around the profile, the commentator said.
In a later recap, Crypto Gorilla said one CARTI token reached about $1.2 million in market value before collapsing. The recap described an apparent hack but did not establish who accessed Carti’s account.
A snapshot at 1:48 P.M. Eastern on Monday showed a Solana token named playboicarti (symbol: carti) down 76.28% over 24 hours. That pair recorded about $4.12 million in trading volume during the period, while its market value stood at $9,779.
Those figures measured different things. Trading volume counted activity across purchases and sales; it did not mean Carti collected $4.12 million or that buyers lost that amount. The listing’s social link pointed to his X page, which by itself did not establish his involvement in the token.
Bitcoin.com also reported that more than 20 CARTI tokens appeared across Solana, Robinhood Chain and Arc. The shared name left traders facing several different coins instead of one verified, artist-backed launch.
Celebrity names and account-access claims have crossed paths in this market before.
AllHipHop previously reported on Iggy Azalea’s promotion of MOTHER in 2024 and Hulk Hogan’s claim that someone hacked his account after it promoted HULK. Hogan publicly distanced himself from those posts.
Bitcoin.com reported no statement from Carti’s team at the time. It remained unclear who changed his bio and whether any token creator had access to his account.
