The Jamaican Women of Florida (JWOF), a non-profit organisation that empowers women and girls of Jamaican descent in Florida and Jamaica through networking, mentorship, personal development, and community service, was the beneficiary of proceeds from the inaugural Bridgerton Soiree, which was held in Florida.
The second staging, scheduled for December 12 at the Miramar City Hall Plaza in Miramar, will continue the organisers’ mantra of supporting charitable initiatives and efforts.
According to Ocho Rios-born Nancy Fong of Social Collective Inc, who along with Nioka Waugh organises the Bridgerton Soiree, “The funds raised from this year’s staging will support our charitable initiatives and efforts to assist nonprofits. Specific beneficiaries and allocations will be announced once they are finalised.”
The event has garnered endorsement from the City of Miramar and Commissioner Maxwell Chambers, with support from sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners, including members of the diaspora.
Dubbed the Masked Edition where elegance meets enchantment, the event targets the 35-65 age demographic
“The Bridgerton Soirée – Masked Edition brings the elegance and romance of the Regency era to South Florida through fashion, culture, and community. It also creates a space for the diaspora to celebrate, build connections, and share its vibrant culture with the wider South Florida community while supporting charitable initiatives,” Fong told Observer Online on Wednesday.
The first staging drew more than 350 attendees last year.
“Our primary demographic includes professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, and community leaders ages 35–65 across South Florida, with a strong focus on the Jamaican diaspora. It welcomes a diverse audience that appreciates elegant social experiences, cultural connections, and giving back,” said Fong.
Patrons can expect an elegant, Bridgerton-inspired evening of masquerade fashion, music, dancing, socialising, and memorable photo opportunities. The celebration brings together the warmth and vibrancy of South Florida’s diverse community. Guests are encouraged to wear regal attire and beautiful masks.
