Rapper Bloodhound Q50 Laid To Rest With Heavy Police Presence

Bloodhound Q50 was laid to rest Friday in Merrillville with a heavy police presence securing the entire funeral procession through town.

The 22-year-old Chicago drill rapper, born Mikquale Cooper, was gunned down on September 13 at a Fuller Park gas station in what authorities described as a coordinated ambush by six shooters.

His funeral service brought together family, friends, and law enforcement, who worked together to keep the day peaceful and respectful.

Multiple Northwest Indiana police agencies showed up to handle security for the procession, which traveled down Taft Street and ended at Calumet Park Cemetery.

Assistant Chief of Police Matt Vasel confirmed the department’s involvement, explaining that officers were there to prevent any potential issues.

“We often handle precautionary measures for events in our town and most of the time they go unnoticed,” Vasel said. “However, today was a funeral on a major roadway for a well-known subject. Out of abundance of caution, we worked with our partner agencies to make sure that this event went off without a hitch.”

Cooper grew up split between Chicago’s South Side and Northwest Indiana, which is why the Region showed up for him when it mattered most.

According to the NWI Times, the funeral reflected the connections he’d built across both communities throughout his life.

His death came just weeks after he released his album Get Back or Die Trying, which was gaining serious traction on streaming platforms before his life was cut short.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unsolved, with no arrests announced as of late September.

Crime analyst Lisette Guillen told media outlets that Cooper’s death appeared connected to gang activity, and multiple of his associates had been killed in similar circumstances over the past few years.
