Rick Ross Leaving Larry Jackson’s Gamma? Meeting With EMPIRE Boss Raises Questions

Rick Ross may be preparing for another major business move, and the clues suggest his relationship with music executive Larry Jackson and gamma. could be coming to an end.

Rick Ross is moving on! Or at least that’s what it looks like, you guys.

A couple of years ago, Rick Ross entered into a major partnership with Larry Jackson and his company, gamma. Now, if you don’t know Larry Jackson, let me tell you something. This man is a kingmaker and a queenmaker in the music business. He’s been helping create stars, build brands and make people wealthy for decades.

And a lot of people don’t realize he’s also one of the key figures who helped bring Kanye West, now known as Ye, back into the mainstream music business. That relationship has been controversial, but Jackson helped put the infrastructure behind Ye’s latest comeback, including his album Bully and a return to major concert stages.

That’s no small accomplishment.

But anyway, that success was supposed to extend to other artists, and Rick Ross was one of them.

Back in September 2023, Ross and his Maybach Music Group announced a partnership with gamma. that was supposed to go well beyond traditional music releases. We’re talking multimedia projects, brand opportunities, podcasting and other ventures designed to push the Biggest Bawse into a new era.

Jackson had previously spoken highly of Ross, including his larger-than-life personality and ability to entertain people beyond music.

And let’s be clear, Rick Ross is hilarious. The man has turned his personality into a business all by itself.

But somewhere along the way, something may have gone awry.

Now, we don’t know exactly what happened, and nobody has publicly confirmed a breakup. However, the Internet detectives have started connecting some dots.

According to social media observations circulating online, Ross and Jackson no longer follow each other on Instagram. Ross also reportedly no longer follows gamma.

Now, we know that unfollowing somebody doesn’t automatically mean a business relationship is finished. But in today’s entertainment industry, social media activity can sometimes provide a BIG clue that something is happening behind the scenes.

And there’s another clue that’s much harder to ignore.

Rick Ross recently met with Ghazi, the founder of EMPIRE.

On October 21, Ross posted about their meeting on Instagram, describing the encounter as “Big Conversations!” and tagging Ghazi.

That’s significant.

As you already know, EMPIRE is one of the biggest independent music companies in the business. Ghazi has built an operation that competes with major labels while giving independent artists and established stars another way to release and monetize their music.

From an independent Hip-Hop perspective, EMPIRE is a monster.

So, when Rick Ross is publicly having big conversations with Ghazi while people are questioning his relationship with gamma., naturally, eyebrows are going to rise.

Does that mean Ross is leaving Larry Jackson? Not necessarily. Does it mean a new business arrangement could be developing? Absolutely.

There is also speculation that Ross’ recent legal situation could have something to do with a possible fracture in the relationship. I’m not necessarily buying that theory.

Ross has faced allegations stemming from a recent arrest, but those allegations are not proof of wrongdoing. The legal process has to play out, and we have no verified evidence connecting that situation to his business dealings with gamma.

Personally, I think there could be something else happening here.

Money. Business. Creative control. Expectations.

Those are the things that can make or break even the strongest partnerships in the music industry.

And remember, Rick Ross is not some new artist looking for somebody to put him on. He’s an established businessman with his own label, catalog, partnerships and a brand that reaches far beyond Hip-Hop.

That gives him options.

For now, we know Ross publicly connected with Ghazi. We also have reports of social media changes that suggest something could be happening with Jackson and gamma. What we don’t have is confirmation that the partnership has officially ended.

But I would definitely keep my eyes on this one.

Why This Potential Move Matters

There’s some important history here. Larry Jackson launched gamma. in 2023 with an ambitious model built around artist partnerships, technology, distribution and opportunities beyond recorded music. Rick Ross and Maybach Music Group were among the company’s early high-profile partners, alongside names associated with Snoop Dogg and Death Row Records. Meanwhile, Ghazi founded EMPIRE in 2010 and built it into a powerful independent music operation with a strong presence in Hip-Hop and an expanding international footprint. A potential Ross move would therefore represent more than a change in distribution. It could signal a new direction for one of Hip-Hop’s most recognizable entrepreneurial brands.

And that’s why I’m watching.

Because at the end of the day, money rules everything around these people. If there’s a real discrepancy in the relationship, we may find out soon enough.

What do you think? Is Rick Ross preparing to leave Larry Jackson and gamma. for EMPIRE, or are people reading too much into an Instagram post? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
