Rod Wave added Arkansas freshman Abdou Toure to Mainstay Sports Agency on Wednesday, bringing a top basketball prospect into his growing business outside music.
On3 reported the signing and cited a statement Rod Wave gave ESPN about his new client. “I believe he’s a superstar talent, and a superstar person,” he said.
The deal covers marketing and brand representation, according to the New Haven Register. Mainstay Sports launched in August. Its clients include Olympic medalist Will Claye, Kendrick Perkins’ son Kenxton Perkins and Houston commit Oneal Delancy. The sports firm sits under the same Mainstay umbrella as a touring division.
Toure already had a foothold in the merchandise business. New Haven’s Goatville Apparel introduced a Toure Collection last year, the newspaper reported. He also had about 60,000 followers on TikTok.
The 6-foot-5 guard came to Arkansas from Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Connecticut. The school’s official biography lists him as the Allen Iverson High School Player of the Year and a five-star recruit across the major recruiting services. He also represented Guinea on the Nike Hoop Summit World Team.
His profile had grown well beyond his home state before college. Toure played for Guinea at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and appeared in the Iverson Classic and BallisLife All-American games. Arkansas also lists second-team All-American honors from MaxPreps and the Naismith Awards in 2026.
For Rod Wave, Mainstay already has work across several parts of entertainment. As AllHipHop previously reported, Mainstay Touring produced his “Don’t Look Down Tour”. The original announcement billed that run as a 25-city trip across North America, with Fridayy as the special guest. It included stops in Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles and Brooklyn.
The Mainstay name also appeared behind the camera. A tour announcement from Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena said Rod Wave’s own company, Mainstay Films, produced the trailer for Don’t Look Down. Rod Wave starred in the trailer himself.
That announcement described Don’t Look Down as his seventh full-length album and the follow-up to Last Lap. The 2024 album opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and gave him a fifth straight top-three entry, the venue said.
