Sage The Gemini Arrested During Traffic Stop

Sage The Gemini was arrested after a California Highway Patrol traffic stop on Highway 99 in Madera County, according to the Fresno Bee.
The Bay Area rapper, whose legal name is Dominic Wynn Woods, was booked Friday, November 6. The booking listed CHP as the arresting agency and identified an out-of-county or out-of-state warrant or detainer as the basis for his custody.
The initial report did not identify the jurisdiction behind the warrant or the case connected to it. The available booking information tied Sage The Gemini’s custody to that warrant after the highway stop.
An outside warrant sends the next step back to the agency or court that issued it. Madera County’s role began with the CHP stop and booking. The warrant entry did not state whether Sage The Gemini would be released locally or transferred to another jurisdiction.
Sage The Gemini came out of Fairfield, California, and became one of the Bay Area’s biggest rap breakouts of the early 2010s.
His self-produced single “Gas Pedal,” featuring Iamsu!, climbed to No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Red Nose” followed, reaching No. 52.
Both records helped turn the HBK Gang member into a national name before his debut album, “Remember Me,” arrived in 2014. He later returned to the Hot 100 with the Nick Jonas collaboration “Good Thing” and the solo single “Now and Later.”
“Gas Pedal” spent 25 weeks on the Hot 100, while “Red Nose” remained on the chart for 20 weeks. That run established Sage The Gemini as more than a one-record breakout and helped carry the Bay Area dance sound into pop radio.
The timing of the arrest sharply interrupts a career that has continued through independent releases, guest appearances and California performances.
Sage The Gemini performed during a Golden State Valkyries playoff game in October, keeping him active in the Bay Area weeks before the traffic stop.
Sage The Gemini has not issued a public response to the arrest. The Fresno Bee’s initial report also did not include a comment from a representative for the rapper.
The Fresno Bee published the arrest report Saturday and said the stop happened on Highway 99 in Madera County. Sage The Gemini’s next legal step will be controlled by the jurisdiction behind the warrant once the hold is processed.
