SNL Mocks Nicki Minaj’s Trump Support With Career Joke

“Saturday Night Live” turned Nicki Minaj‘s support for Donald Trump into a career joke on its October 31 Halloween episode, with Saidah Belo-Osagie playing the rapper.

The cold open cast Belo-Osagie’s Minaj as Trump’s next choice for press secretary.

“Trump’s out here killing it … and by it, I mean my career,” the performer joked as Minaj on SNL.

James Austin Johnson’s Trump also fixated on the Minaj character’s backside. In the sketch, he suggested he could appreciate it if it belonged to a man.

“I could admire it,” Johnson said as Trump.

The parody took place inside a haunted attraction, where a couple’s Halloween ride was interrupted by Johnson’s Trump.

Tom Hanks returned as David S. Pumpkins, the character he first played in 2016. Johnson’s Trump compared himself with Pumpkins, joking that both arrived in 2016 and were loud, orange and annoying.

The ride was called “Tombs of Doom.” Kenan Thompson served as the guide, while Veronika Slowikowska’s Katie Zacharia flubbed the show’s opening line.

For Belo-Osagie, the Minaj impression came early in her time on the show.

The New York comedian joined Grace Reiter as a new featured player for Season 52, which premiered September 26. Her background includes character comedy and “UNSCRIPTED,” a reality-TV parody variety show at Brooklyn’s Union Hall.

The press secretary bit followed Trump’s own remarks in a recent Benny Johnson interview. Trump liked the idea of Minaj taking the job.

“That’s a good idea. I think I’ll have to think about that,” Trump said on Johnson’s show. He mentioned Johnson as another choice. He did not offer Minaj the job or appoint her.

The chatter followed an October 25 Air Force One video shared by White House communications director Steven Cheung.

In his caption, Cheung suggested Minaj for the job. The rapper praised Trump’s business background and his recovery from money trouble. She also praised his stamina. Their discussion covered the economy, polls and Trump’s campaign workload.

Minaj also urged people to vote for Republicans in the November 3 midterms.

She made the appeal at an October 25 rally in Port Huron, Michigan. She pledged to back Trump if he ran again.
