Snoop Dogg Hosts 2026 MTV VMAs As Cardi B, Drake And Megan Thee Stallion Compete

Snoop Dogg will host the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards when the ceremony returns to Los Angeles on September 27.
The broadcast will air live from the Peacock Theater on CBS, simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+.
Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Broadus Jr., will also serve as an executive producer alongside Van Toffler and the show’s production team.
“MTV and the VMAs have been part of my story since the beginning. Some of the biggest moments of my career happened on that stage and on MTV – they gave Hip-Hop a place to be loud, fearless and seen by the whole world,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement.
The booking puts a West Coast fixture at the center of the show’s first Los Angeles ceremony since 2017, according to The Associated Press.
Snoop Dogg first appeared on the VMA stage in 1994, then closed the 1999 show with Dr. Dre and Eminem.
He later joined MTV’s tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. in 2005 and performed with Eminem at the 2022 ceremony.
“So to come back now and host the VMAs, all these years later, that’s a full-circle moment for me. And doing it with my brother Van Toffler makes it even more special,” Snoop Dogg said.
“Van was there during those early MTV days when we were changing the culture in real time, and we’ve got a whole lot of history together. Now we get to make some new history.”
The 13-time nominee has won three Moon Person trophies, including a 1994 Best Rap Video prize and 2015’s Best Art Direction honor.
This year’s nominees are already set, with Cardi B and Kehlani’s “Safe,” Drake’s “Janice STFU,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Lover Girl,” Don Toliver’s “E85,” Travis Scott’s “Dumbo,” and Tyler, the Creator’s “Sugar on My Tongue” competing for Best Hip-Hop.
The full nominations list also includes Clipse, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T and Malice for Best Collaboration with “Chains & Whips.”
“[The VMAs] have always been about those moments you don’t forget – and trust me, we’re gonna give y’all a few more,” Snoop Dogg said.
Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award during the September 27 broadcast, MTV confirmed this week.
