SZA said she was headed to Tahiti to keep working on her next album, sharing an album update as reports linked her to a Coachella headlining slot in 2027.
The singer posted the message on her alternate Instagram account alongside a screenshot of TMZ’s report about the festival’s prospective headliners. Her caption paired the music plans with doubts about taking on another big commitment.
“Headed to Tahiti to work this album some more. Mulling over big decisions. Saying yes when ur unprepared is crazy,” she wrote.
The message pointed to more work ahead on the record rather than a finished project. SZA did not name the album or give a release date in the caption. Her most recent studio album, SOS, arrived in 2022.
The festival discussion remained separate. SZA, Dua Lipa and Tame Impala were nearing agreements to headline, but Coachella organizers had not announced the official lineup. The report did not include an announcement from the festival.
A headlining appearance would build on several previous Coachella visits.
SZA performed there in 2018 and brought Kendrick Lamar onstage during her set. She returned as a surprise guest in April 2026, joining Justin Bieber to sing “Snooze.”
Between those festival appearances, she and Lamar shared the 2025 Super Bowl halftime stage and took their joint “Grand National Tour” on the road.
Her remarks about feeling unprepared also recalled concerns she had discussed before another major live undertaking.
In a June 2025 conversation with Chappell Roan for Interview magazine, SZA described anxiety before public appearances, including the “Grand National Tour” with Lamar.
“Every time I had to go on stage, every time I had to get on a carpet, I’d have full-on panic attacks,” she said.
During that earlier interview, she worried that audiences were coming for Lamar and questioned whether she had enough exciting new material to offer them. She also said she wanted to move ahead despite uncertainty, which helped explain the hesitation in her latest post.
Coachella 2027 is scheduled for April 9-11 and April 16-18 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
