Terrence Howard Predicts AI Will End Hollywood’s Traditional Industry Model

Terrence Howard believes artificial intelligence will end Hollywood’s traditional industry model, TMZ reported.

He made the remarks at an event for his new film, “A Good Hand Wasted.”

The “Empire” star described Hollywood’s golden age as nearing its close, but he did not present that shift as entirely bad.

His prediction lands in an industry already trying to decide whether AI will remain another production tool or remake how movies are financed, staffed and created.

Major studios are weighing faster, cheaper production against jobs and copyright concerns. Google has also explored licensing agreements with Hollywood companies for its AI tools.

The fight is not only about what studios can generate.

It is also about who controls an actor’s face, voice and performance. SAG-AFTRA’s latest agreement separates authorized digital replicas from fully synthetic creations, putting consent at the center of the debate.

In a separate industry discussion, director Ron Howard argued that audiences will decide whether AI-made films succeed and suggested traditional and AI-assisted production could coexist.

His view is less absolute than Terrence Howard’s forecast and shows how unsettled the industry’s debate remains.

Terrence Howard delivered his remarks as “A Good Hand Wasted” prepared for its November 6 premiere on Turnstr+.

The psychological thriller follows six longtime friends whose private-island vacation turns dangerous after they are pulled into a high-stakes poker game, according to a report on the film.

The setup puts their loyalty and survival on the table as the game closes around them.

That story gives Howard a timely backdrop for talking about risk and an industry in transition. He also framed the movie’s message in more personal terms. “Hopefully, the audience will learn to appreciate living in the moment,” Howard said.

He followed with another direct thought about what he hopes viewers carry away from the film: “Life is supposed to be lived and appreciated, not taken for granted.”

Rhyan Lamarr wrote and directed “A Good Hand Wasted” and also worked on its music. The movie is part of Lamarr’s three-picture agreement with Turnstr+ and arrives later that week, as Howard comments on the business facing the end of an era.
