Tina Knowles Reveals The Didn’t Want Beyoncé Or Solange To Be In Music Business

Tina Knowles opened up about her journey as a mother to global superstars Beyoncé and Solange during an appearance on This Morning.

The legendary fashion designer and entrepreneur discussed her new book, her business ventures with Beyoncé, and the sacrifices of raising children in the entertainment industry.

When asked about watching her daughter become a global phenomenon, Knowles emphasized what matters most to her.

“I’m just more enamored by the fact that all of my girls have remained good people. That’s the most important thing,” she said. “Actually, that wasn’t my first choice for them to be in show business, especially my second daughter because you know, it’s a lot of sacrifice of being an entertainer. So I really discouraged her from it, but it’s in her blood, so she just couldn’t help it.”

Knowles explained that she never pushed her daughters toward performing.

Instead, she focused on supporting whatever path they chose. Her approach to parenting emphasized individual choice and unconditional support rather than steering them toward show business.

The conversation shifted to Knowles’ new beauty brand, Sacred, which she’s developing with Beyoncé.

The brand combines traditional hair care wisdom with modern science, a philosophy rooted in Knowles’ decades of salon experience.

“I would do hot oil treatments. I would get cholesterol and butters and all these things and mix them together with a high science brand,” Knowles explained. “So, this combines both in one. She’s she sends things back 10 times. So, she drives us crazy, but she’s always like, ‘It can be better.’ And she’s such a perfectionist. And you know, even though we butt head sometimes about that, at the end of the day, I’m so happy that she’s so so picky about what she puts out there.”

Knowles grew up in the salon business with her daughters helping out as children.

That foundation shaped the Sacred brand’s philosophy of blending ancestral knowledge with scientific innovation.

Beyoncé’s involvement in every detail of the product development reflects her perfectionist nature, something Knowles credits to her own influence.

Knowles continues to play an active role in Beyoncé’s career, overseeing styling, hiring stylists, and managing tour budgets.

She remains deeply involved in every creative decision, though she acknowledges that Beyoncé is ultimately in charge.

The mother-daughter dynamic has evolved into a professional partnership that allows them to spend quality time together while creating groundbreaking work.
