Tobe Nwigwe Recalls Jay Electronica Bringing Two Huge Dogs To Their Studio Session

Tobe Nwigwe had an unusual pair of studio guests when Jay Electronica came to record: two Great Danes that the Houston rapper compared to horses.
Nwigwe shared the memory during an interview with Angela Yee, where he appeared with his wife and collaborator, Fat Nwigwe.
He said Jay brought the dogs to a Houston session and stopped about every 15 minutes to walk them while working on his verse.
The story came with respect, not a complaint about the feature. Nwigwe described Jay as sincere and passionate. Fat recalled him making up his verse in the booth without writing it down.
“I’ve never heard a verse that’s not great from Jay Electronica. I really think he top five dead or alive rapping.” Nwigwe said.
The session date wasn’t given. The interview arrived as The Bridge reached streaming services. Jay Electronica joins Tobe and Fat on “ALLAHUAKBARS,” one of the album’s 12 tracks. Its release credits list Tobe Nwigwe LLC, with exclusive distribution by Human Re Sources.
The project connects the Texas rapper’s Houston upbringing with his Nigerian family roots. That mix runs through its guests: Paul Wall appears on “TOPS DROP ’26,” Nigerian group The Cavemen joins him on “CHOP,” and they return for two more songs.
The guest list also includes Labrinth on “ALL OR NOTHING,” Flavour and C.S. Armstrong on “PERFECTION” and K CAMP with Adekunle Gold on “ULTRASOUND.”
Other major rap voices are in the lineup. Busta Rhymes opens the set with Nwigwe on “CHINEKE.” Scarface, ODUMODUBLVCK and Hanumankind share “PEACE AND PROBLEMS,” while Malice and Jacob Banks join “HEAVEN KNOWS ME WELL.”
Jay’s appearance adds to a catalog that has often moved on its own timetable.
AllHipHop reported in September 2025 that Act II: The Patents of Nobility (The Turn) reached major streaming services years after its 2020 leak and brief availability on Tidal. The project included Jay-Z, The-Dream and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
His official debut, A Written Testimony, arrived in 2020 with extensive contributions from Jay-Z. The new appearance comes six years after that debut.
Nwigwe told Yee that Jay’s willingness to come to Houston meant something to him. He viewed the visit as evidence that Jay loved and respected their work. The Bridge, released October 9, pairs that collaboration with Fat and Sia’s appearance on “DISGUISE.”
