US Supreme Court denies Trump bid to restrict mail-in ballots
WASHINGTON, United States (AFP)—The United States (US) Supreme Court on Monday denied President Donald Trump's request to lift a lower court's order blocking his bid to restrict mail-in voting ahead of the November midterm elections. Only two justices on the conservative-dominated, nine-member panel offered a dissent. Justice Brett Kavanaugh in a concurring opinion with the majority said Trump's plan may ultimately be legal in the long run, but "state and local election officials do not have sufficient time to reasonably implement the rule before the elections."
