Vin Rock Says He & Kay Gee Are Ready For Naughty By Nature Reunion

Vin Rock said he and DJ Kay Gee were ready to reunite Naughty By Nature as a three-man group.

The rapper made his position clear in an October 17 Instagram post shared with Naughty By Nature’s account. He apologized to fans who want to see the full group back in action and defended the work he has put into their career.

“Kaygee and I are ready to ROCK as the 3 Man Threat ANY GIVEN DAY!!!” he wrote.

Vin also challenged the idea that his value to the group rested only on writing verses. A commenter asked whether Treach had written his rhymes. In a reply shown in a screenshot supplied to AllHipHop, Vin answered, “Some, not all but that’s NOT the point!”

He described Naughty By Nature as a machine with many moving parts, arguing that substantial work happens before the audience sees the result. He also said Treach had been trying to go solo for 25 years.

In his caption, Vin traced their roots to New Style and East Orange, New Jersey. The post’s graphic also claimed he had been offered money to respond publicly. He did not identify who made the offers or provide a dollar figure.

Treach discussed the split on the October 16 episode of Drink Champs. In the program’s official transcript, he described his groupmates’ performances as DJ sets rather than the full group. He also claimed he wrote most of the group’s lyrics, while splitting the publishing in thirds.

Treach’s opposition to a reunion was already public. AllHipHop reported in August that Treach had ruled out a reunion during The Real Report. Vin’s latest post renewed his own willingness to perform together; it did not establish that Treach had agreed.

The group has repaired public rifts before. In a 2016 Miami New Times interview ahead of their 25th-anniversary tour, Vin described putting differences aside so the original trio could perform for fans again.

Their shared catalog includes “O.P.P.,” “Hip Hop Hooray” and “Feel Me Flow.” The Recording Academy lists Poverty’s Paradise as the group’s 1996 Best Rap Album winner.

No joint reunion date was announced in the post.
