Violent J Rejects Family Era Reunion

Violent J ruled out a Family Era reunion as Insane Clown Posse prepared for Halloween shows in Michigan.

Asked by Metro Times about a Family Era show with Twiztid, ABK and Blaze, he rejected a paid reunion.

“There’s nothing, no amount of money, that would get me to get onstage with those guys,” he said.

The interview was published October 28. He called the split a betrayal. His only suggested exception was hypothetical: ending world hunger.

Twiztid’s Jamie Madrox and Monoxide came out of House of Krazees. Violent J liked a demo they made after that trio broke up and signed them to Psychopathic Records. That run included the 2009 album W.I.C.K.E.D., which reached No. 11 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In a 2011 interview with The Village Voice, Madrox credited ICP with taking time to teach the duo and help sharpen their music. Monoxide said they spent years learning from the group. Madrox said that even without Psychopathic, he believed Twiztid would still have pursued music. What the label had changed, in his view, was the reach of that career and the doors that opened.

Madrox described a bond built on trust and years of work. Monoxide said ICP came to respect their business skills as well as their music. The duo also recalled ICP encouraging them to use face paint, after they had worried about taking the group’s look.

Twiztid later left Psychopathic. AllHipHop’s 2014 Halloween feature identified Abominationz as the duo’s final release for the label. In 2015, Twiztid put out its first album through its own Majik Ninja Entertainment, according to CityBeat.

For this year’s holiday run, the group’s publicist announced three Michigan dates: October 29 and October 30 at The Vault in Saginaw, followed by October 31 at Detroit’s Masonic Temple. The announcement described the Saginaw bookings as ICP’s first concerts in that city. It listed the October 29 show as sold out when the release was issued.

The Detroit date is billed as the 33rd annual Hallowicked Clown Show. Along with ICP, the announced music lineup includes Ouija Macc, Wakko The Kidd, Diggy Graves, Ganksta N-I-P and Klokwerk E.
