Wale gave Angel Reese and Gabby Williams their own shoutouts on “WYFL,” a new anthem for the 2026 WNBA Finals.
The league rolled out the track on Monday, October 19, as the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries chased their first titles. Wale released the full song on his own YouTube channel, which lists the WNBA as a collaborator.
The title stands for “Who You Feeling Like?” Wale names stars on both sides of the court in the song, which arrived before Game 2 at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
On X, the league said Wale “made this one for the W” as it introduced the record.
Reese, the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, is in her first season with Atlanta. She led the WNBA in rebounds during the regular season. Williams finished second in the award vote and became Golden State’s first All-Star starter this year. She also scored 26 points in the Valkyries’ 68-64 win in Game 1. Both teams reached the Finals with semifinal sweeps.
Atlanta then beat Golden State 79-65 in Game 2, tying the series at one game each. The win gave the Dream their first Finals victory after three past trips to the title round.
Wale has a long history of making music part of the live sports experience. The Wizards named him their creative liaison in 2014. He later made a team-themed song for the Sacramento Kings’ game intro in 2019.
His sports work also reached the soccer field this year. He played halftime at D.C. United’s March 7 match against Inter Miami in Baltimore. That game drew 72,026 fans, a club record.
Bay Area rappers have also had a role in this Finals. Too $hort was booked to handle the pregame drum for Game 2, with LaRussell on the halftime lineup. Larry June played halftime at the series opener.
Golden State reached the Finals in just its second season. Atlanta made it back for the first time since 2013. The title round uses a best-of-seven format.
The series moves to Atlanta for Game 3 on Wednesday, October 21. Tipoff is set for 8 P.M. Eastern at State Farm Arena, with the game on USA Network, CNBC and Peacock.
