ST JAMES, Jamaica — Heavy rainfall on Monday afternoon inundated several communities in Montego Bay, leaving streets flooded and causing damage in sections of the city.
Among the affected areas was Catherine Hall, where several streets were submerged. The Estuary Housing Scheme and sections of Tucker also experienced flooding.
This comes just days before the anniversary of Hurricane Melissa, which caused widespread destruction and left several communities grappling with similar issues last year.
In Estuary, an entire section of the community is now completely flooded. However, the area has been largely abandoned since Hurricane Melissa.
Meanwhile, in Tucker, several cars were washed away as floodwaters surged through the community during the night.
Residents are now carrying out clean-up activities as they watch to see what else could come their way.
