MANCHESTER, Jamaica—Police have confirmed that two men narrowly escaped serious injury when a truck overturned off the Spur Tree Hill main road in Manchester Saturday morning.
Police said the driver of a concrete pump truck reported that the unit experienced brake failure while travelling downhill shortly before 10:00 am, resulting in the vehicle going off-road and overturning in a ravine.
The truck driver and a passenger managed to free themselves from the overturned vehicle.
The Spur Tree main road links Mandeville and its environs to St Elizabeth and points west. Heavily laden, slow-moving trucks often hinder traffic on the steep, difficult hill, and there have been a number of fatal crashes involving trucks over the years.
