KINGSTON, Jamaica — Waterhouse FC’s perfect start to the Jamaica Premier League season came to an end on Thursday after they were held to a 1-1 draw by defending champions Portmore United in a rescheduled encounter at Ferdie Neita Park.
Despite dropping points for the first time this season, Waterhouse moved to the top of the standings on goal difference ahead of Montego Bay United, with both teams locked on 10 points from four matches.
Portmore United, meanwhile, maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign and climbed to seventh place on five points, having recorded one win and two draws.
Jevaughn Grant fired Portmore into the lead in the 22nd minute with his first goal of the season, but their advantage was short-lived as Rohan Brown struck six minutes later to restore parity for Waterhouse.
Brown’s 28th-minute equaliser was his third goal of the campaign and ensured that Waterhouse walked away with a share of the points.
Neither team managed to find a winner, leaving both sides unbeaten heading into their next fixtures.
