WHO WANTS IT?
The lead in the Legend Jamaica Premier League will be up for grabs on Sunday, with Montego Bay United not playing until Monday and Racing United, Waterhouse FC and Tivoli Gardens all having a chance to move ahead of the leaders. Three points separate the top five teams in the standings. Montego Bay United lead with 14 points from six games, followed by Racing United on 13, Waterhouse FC on 12, and Tivoli Gardens and Tru-Juice FC on 11 each. Racing United, who are unbeaten in their last three games and have scored 10 of their 14 goals over that period, will start favourites to extend Humble Lion’s winless run to seven games. Racing are away to the bottom-placed team, who have yet to win this season. Despite being held 0-0 by Waterhouse on Monday, Racing United remain one of the competition’s top-scoring teams. They will face a Humble Lion defence that has conceded 17 goals, five more than the next-worst team, Molynes United, with 12. Nickyle Ellis and Tajay Grant have combined to score seven of Racing United’s goals, with each having scored more goals than Humble Lion’s entire team. Waterhouse FC have drawn their last three games after opening the season with three wins. They will host Dunbeholden FC, who are 12th in the standings with three points. Waterhouse have scored just two goals in their last three games, a sharp decline from the 13 they netted in their first three matches. They will hope to rediscover their scoring touch against Dunbeholden. Colorado Murray and Mario Simms have scored three goals each for Waterhouse. Tivoli Gardens could also move ahead of Montego Bay United on goal difference. They travel to face Cavalier FC, who are winless in their last three games and are coming off a loss to Molynes United. Tivoli have scored 13 goals this season, with Leaunghn Williams leading the way with three. Steve Clarke and Ajuma Johnson have scored two each. Tru-Juice FC will be looking for back-to-back wins when they visit winless Treasure Beach at the STETHS Sports Complex. It will be the first meeting between the teams in the Jamaica Premier League. Tru-Juice are coming off a 4-0 win over Humble Lion, while Treasure Beach have scored just four goals in five games. Defending champions Portmore United, who have played just three games because of their Concacaf Caribbean Cup commitments, will host Chapelton Maroons at the Ferdie Neita Sports Complex. Portmore are ninth with five points after drawing their two most recent games and will be looking for a win. Chapelton, however, will be seeking back-to-back victories after edging Treasure Beach 1-0 last weekend.
