Wiz Khalifa’s Romanian Prison Judgment Annulled As Appeal Returns

Wiz Khalifa no longer faces an active nine-month Romanian prison judgment after a Bucharest court annulled the ruling and canceled its enforcement warrant.

The November 3 decision changes his position, but it does not end the criminal case.

The Bucharest Court of Appeal set a new hearing for November 12 at 4 p.m. local time. Judges will rehear an appeal filed by prosecutors from Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism, known as DIICOT.

The court told Wiz’s chosen lawyer about the date and ordered steps to arrange the rapper’s appearance by videoconference.

The court’s short order, translated from Romanian, says it “cancels the prison sentence enforcement warrant.” The judges also struck down the December 18, 2025 decision that imposed the nine-month term.

The case began at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinesti on July 13, 2024. Prosecutors said Wiz had 18.53 grams of cannabis and a cannabis cigarette for personal use.

He smoked onstage during his performance and was later charged with illegal possession of a risk drug.

A trial court first imposed a criminal fine of 3,600 lei. DIICOT appealed, and the Constanta Court of Appeal replaced that fine with nine months in prison in December 2025.

An enforcement warrant followed. By May, Romanian authorities had placed Wiz on a wanted list, raising the prospect of detention during European travel.

The new hearing will not restart the whole case. It returns to the appeal that DIICOT filed against the 3,600-lei fine.

That appeal produced the prison term and warrant that Bucharest judges have now erased, so the result of the rehearing will decide the next turn in the case.

His lawyers kept challenging the result. Romania’s highest court moved the dispute from Constanta to Bucharest in September.

On October 20, AllHipHop reported that the Bucharest court had allowed one part of his annulment challenge to move forward.

At that stage, the prison judgment still stood.

The November 3 ruling goes further by removing that judgment and its enforcement warrant. It does not amount to an acquittal, and prosecutors have not dropped their appeal.

The court will hear DIICOT’s challenge to the original fine again on November 12, with Wiz expected to join the proceeding remotely if the videoconference arrangements are completed.
