The classroom buzzed with excitement as students carefully arranged and decorated their Barilla Farfalle pasta, transforming simple ingredients into colourful works of art. From imaginative characters and playful designs to intricate patterns, each creation reflected the unique personality and creativity of its young creator. One standout piece featured a cheerful face crafted with brightly coloured bow-tie pasta forming textured hair, demonstrating just how much imagination can emerge from the simplest materials. As students proudly displayed their finished masterpieces, the adults in the room found themselves reminiscing about their own days of glue-covered fingers, dried macaroni and cherished school projects. According to Barilla’s Brand Manager Damani Johnson, the initiative was designed to celebrate World Pasta Day while creating a meaningful connection between generations.Barilla’s Brand Manager Damani Johnson assisting students to select pasta pieces for their creations as they participate in a World Pasta Day activity at Spanish Town Infant School. The initiative encouraged creativity, teamwork and self-expression through hands-on learning.
“When people hear the words 'pasta art,' it instantly brings back memories of infant and primary school days, sitting with glue, coloured paper and a handful of macaroni trying to create something special," said Johnson. "We wanted to recreate that magic for these students while celebrating World Pasta Day. The goal was not just to have fun, but to encourage creativity, self-expression and confidence. Looking around the room today and seeing the pride on the children's faces as they showcased their creations, it is clear that the experience was as meaningful as it was enjoyable." Beyond creating colourful artwork, the activity encouraged creativity, confidence and self-expression while helping students develop fine motor and problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging environment. As the colourful displays lined the classroom walls, one thing became clear: while technology and trends may evolve, the joy of creating something with your own hands remains timeless. This World Pasta Day, Spanish Town Infant School proved that sometimes the simplest ingredients can create the biggest memories, one piece of pasta at a time. And if the laughter, excitement and colourful masterpieces on display were anything to go by, pasta art is still very much a thing.
