Ye Defends Jakarta Crowd After “Heartless” Clip Draws Criticism

Ye praised his Jakarta crowd after a clip of him restarting “Heartless” led to claims that he was trying to get a rise out of fans. The rapper’s own account of the night was far warmer than the criticism suggested.

Ye responded on X to a user who shared the performance and accused him of provoking the audience. The outlet reported that he repeated part of the song seven times while getting fans to sing along.

“Bro. This shit was a vibe. The crowd was very loud. It’s called rock and roll,” Ye wrote.

He posted the response Sunday, October 25, a day after the concert. Medcom reported that the show began at 9 P.M. and was promoted by Raw Vision Collective. It was his first solo concert in Indonesia.

The show took place Saturday, October 24 at Gelora B### Karno Stadium. Jakarta Globe’s account described a “Heartless” performance in which Ye had the audience handle the chorus. At one point, fans sang without the backing track. Their voices became part of the performance, with Ye asking them to return to the refrain.

Elsewhere in the set, the audience heard older songs including “All Falls Down,” “Through the Wire” and “Gold Digger.”

The roughly two-hour concert put Ye on a huge globe-shaped stage with fans around it, while lasers and fireworks filled out the production.

Organizers estimated attendance at 50,000, according to Jakarta Globe. Fans also offered different views of the sound. One reported rough audio at times, while another said it was clear overall from his seat, with some speaker vibrations overlapping.

AllHipHop previously reported the Jakarta booking in July. It was announced as the only Southeast Asian stop on his 2026 tour. It was also his first performance in the region in more than 15 years.

His earlier visits included Singapore shows in 2008 and 2010, giving the Jakarta date a place in a much longer gap between regional appearances.

The night closed with another chance for fans to sing. For “Runaway,” Ye returned with a small piano after going inside the globe. Fireworks accompanied the song’s opening notes as the crowd joined in.
