Yella Beezy‘s lawyers used roughly 17 other last-minute flight bookings to challenge the state’s suggestion that his travel around MO3’s killing was suspicious.
American Airlines investigator Diala Alrihani described a frequent traveler during testimony Monday (November 2). She also said entertainment professionals often manage reservations, FOX 4 reported.
The defense pointed to other 2020 reservations made about a day before departure. Those bookings gave jurors a wider view of his travel habits than the trip prosecutors had highlighted.
Airline records placed Yella Beezy and Theodore Thomas on a November 10, 2020 flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Los Angeles. They booked their return on November 19 and flew back the next day. Some separate reservations had matching booking addresses.
An associate, Devarius Moore, booked a flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Los Angeles just hours before leaving on November 13, 2020. Records show he returned to Dallas on November 21.
MO3 was killed in Dallas on November 11, 2020. Prosecutors accused Yella Beezy of hiring Kewon White to carry out the shooting. Yella Beezy pleaded not guilty to the charge of capital murder. He also denied hiring White.
White was convicted on September 4 and received a life sentence. Yella Beezy faced a separate jury, with his own freedom at stake.
He could receive life in prison if convicted.
