Yella Beezy’s Childhood Friend Agrees To Testify Against Him In MO3 Murder Case

Yella Beezy‘s childhood friend Jose Bodega has agreed to testify against him as prosecutors prepare their case over MO3’s murder.

The Dallas rapper, whose legal name is Theodore Thomas, entered a cooperation deal tied to a separate federal drug case. At Tuesday’s hearing, defense expert Julianna Moore described that deal and its benefits, according to courtroom journalist Bryson “Boom” Paul’s account.

Moore testified that Bodega pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy and agreed to help prosecutors in Yella Beezy’s murder-for-hire case. She said a gun charge against Bodega had been dismissed, giving the defense grounds to question what he gains by cooperating.

Their bond extends to music, with Bodega appearing on “Tool On Ya” from Yella Beezy and Trapboy Freddy’s album I’m My Brother’s Keeper.

Yella Beezy, legally named Markies Conway, denies the charge that he hired Kewon White to kill his fellow Dallas rapper. Prosecutors trace the alleged plot to a bitter feud that played out through songs, online posts and clashes within their circles.

Detective Eric Barnes testified that MO3’s lyrics appeared to claim a role in the 2018 tollway attack that wounded Yella Beezy.

MO3, whose legal name was Melvin Noble, died after White chased him along Dallas’ Interstate 35E on November 11, 2020. The masked shooter pursued MO3 on foot and fired a rifle as the rapper tried to get away from the attack.

A jury convicted White on September 4, and his sentence means he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Dallas County prosecutors say phone records, surveillance images, witness accounts, financial evidence and jail calls helped them identify White.

White has since taken his account public from prison, including an admission that he also shot Boosie during a Dallas visit. Boosie suffered a leg wound near Big T Plaza on November 14, 2020, three days after MO3 died on the freeway.

During his Cam Capone News interview, White said he had even hoped to turn the attack into a song.

“I was gonna make a song about it, but I ain’t really get a chance to,” he said. “I was going to blow up off that, too.”

Jury selection for Yella Beezy’s trial is set for October 26 before Dallas County Judge Chika Anyiam.
