Yella Beezy Trial: MO3’s Girlfriend Testifies

Yella Beezy faced testimony from MO3’s girlfriend Tuesday (October 27) as his lawyers challenged the cash trail behind the state’s murder-for-hire case.

The Dallas rapper, legally named Markies Conway, pleaded not guilty to capital murder. He denied paying Kewon White to kill MO3 and faced life in prison if convicted. MO3’s legal name was Melvin Noble.

Jocylynn Jackson told jurors she suspected her address had reached others after MO3 was killed shortly after leaving her apartment, according to FOX 4.

She said Devin Brown, her children’s father and a co-defendant, had asked their son whether MO3 was there. Brown denied involvement in a message shown in court.

Phone records presented to jurors showed Brown repeatedly calling the boy that morning. Jackson said she had been subpoenaed and did not want to testify.

Defense lawyer Toby Shook argued the bills Yella Beezy withdrew differed from cash recovered from convicted gunman White. He also accused investigators of overlooking Brown’s personal dispute with MO3.

The testimony followed Monday’s jury selection in Dallas, where Judge Chika Anyiam questioned 75 potential jurors about whether news coverage would affect their judgment. The case reached that stage after a monthlong delay.

White’s separate trial ended with a September 4 conviction and a life sentence. He shot MO3 with a rifle after chasing him on foot along Interstate 35E in Dallas on November 11, 2020.

The state’s case against Yella Beezy had already drawn a dispute over rap lyrics. Prosecutors said the music helped establish why the killing happened and what he intended. His lawyers argued the songs told creative stories rather than documented actual events.

Another witness agreement involved Jose Bodega, Yella Beezy’s childhood friend. The rapper, whose legal name is Theodore Thomas, agreed to cooperate in the murder case through a deal in a separate federal drug prosecution.

Their music connection included Bodega’s appearance on the song “Tool On Ya” with Yella Beezy and Trapboy Freddy.

At an October 6 hearing, defense expert Julianna Moore described Bodega’s guilty plea to drug conspiracy and his agreement to help prosecutors. She also testified that prosecutors dismissed a gun charge against him, a point the defense could challenge when examining his testimony.
